Nashville, TN – The Martha O’Bryan Center (MOCB) has received a $5,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program. (Martha O’Bryan is one of thirty-two organizations nationally to receive an award). The MassMutual Foundation made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Andy Faught, an agent affiliated with MassMutual and partner with Continuum Planning Partners in Brentwood, TN.

“What I love about supporting the Martha O’Bryan Center is that unlike many charities, they give people tools to better their lives in the long term,” said Andy Faught.  “I fully believe that education is the only way to break the cycle of generational poverty, and the Martha O’Bryan Center’s programs focus on just that.  My favorite part is seeing students who have been involved in any number of their programs being the first person in their family not only go to, but graduate from college.”

The Martha O’Bryan Center is an anti-poverty non-profit organization with longstanding history and deep community roots, grounded in tradition and strengthened by innovation.  Founded in 1894 when Miss O’Bryan organized the Gleaners Society at First Presbyterian Church to support impoverished North Nashville residents, Martha O’Bryan Center has operated from the heart of Cayce Place – Nashville’s most distressed community – since 1948.  This is where they continue in service, partnering with Cayce Place families to open doors of hope and possibility, create a culture of attainment, and positively shape future generations.

Andy has been a financial planner since 1999. He joined Capital Financial Group (CFG) in 2007 to spearhead the creation of the Financial Planning Department. In order to provide a higher level of planning to clients with more complex situations, he launched Continuum Planning Partners (CPP) in 2015. He served on the Martha O’Bryan Center Finance board from 2010 to 2016. He then joined the Board of East End Prep, a charter school created by MOBC, in 2016 and took over as Chair of the Board in 2018.

“We are stronger when we come together as a community, and our Community Service Awards program recognizes a group of MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation.
