Abby, who is a Nashville native, became a financial planner in 2008 and started with a financial planning firm based in Washington D.C. She moved to Nashville in 2011 and joined Capital Financial Group, and in 2015, she founded Continuum Planner Partners, an elite comprehensive financial planning firm.

Abby is a Nashville Business Journal 40 Under 40 winner in 2015 and was named the 2017 Nashville Business Journal’s Power Leaders in Finance Award. She is Board Chair of a local charter school named Rocketship and sits on both the Harpeth Hall Alumnae Board and Salvation Army Board. She is involved with the Nashville Rotary Club and is the past president of Women Engaging Business.

Abby is married to her high school sweetheart, J.B. Spaulding. They two have two daughters - a tenacious five year-old and a sweet, cuddly two year old.

Without proper planning, people are worried about the “gaps” in their financial lives. As your financial planner, our job is to help you identify any gaps and put you on a path to reach your goals.

Even as a second generation financial planner, I can’t say I was always interested in becoming a planner. After several attempts in other industries though, I found myself drawn to this business. I enjoy converting complicated planning into a simple plan for my clients. At the end of the day, what we do is about helping my clients achieve their goals, which I find very rewarding.

My clients typically are looking for someone to take a look at their whole financial picture and coordinate with what they may already have in place. Once people understand the process to get them from point A to point B, they typically feel relieved because they understand what it will take. Planning also involves being able to withstand life’s curveballs. We will all have these curveballs, but we just don’t know when and for how long. Proper planning helps make sure they are just a setback and do not cause you to have to start over.

After working with someone for several years I truly enjoy looking back at our original balance sheet and first set of goals to see how far we have come. It is so gratifying to see my clients accomplish their goals.
